A collaborative intergenerational program to improve the daily lives of our older adults and reduce experiences of isolation and loneliness.
Program participants will include approximately 10 elder adults and 5 youths. GDS staff, GDS volunteers, and Dyckman Senior Center staff will develop, administer and supervise the program. GDS will train the youth participants and volunteers in three weekly training sessions (90 minutes). This training will include team building, skills for interacting with older adults, program orientation information, as well as utilizing music to engage older adults suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Youth and GDS volunteers will receive an Intergeneration Wellness Certificate upon completion fo the training and YES program.
