Marc ReissmanMarc Reissman is an Executive Vice President at JRM Construction Management. As a key member of the company Marc provides Excellent service in the Commercial Construction Industry throughout the United States. Marc’s involvement in the Advisory Council for GDS came from his overall love of the program. This was brought about when he started volunteering over 20 years ago in the early days of GDS. Marc was a counselor at GDS’s Camp Excel and saw the benefits of the program over the next 5 years. He became a Group Leader as well as a Mentor in the GDS Program. Marc’s recent return to GDS came about because he felt a responsibility to help the community after the recent Pandemic.

Gary Shulman

Gary ShulmanGary Shulman, MS. Ed. has spent a lifetime supporting vulnerable families and children. He began his career working with children with and without disabilities in an inclusive Head Start program in Brooklyn NY. He then transitioned to become the Special Needs and Early Childhood Coordinator for the Brooklyn Children’s Museum. For over 24 years he passionately advocated for the needs of these parents as the Social Services and Training Director for Resources for Children with Special Needs, Inc. in NYC. After leaving RCSN, Mr. Shulman served as a private Special Needs Consultant conducting hundreds of training sessions throughout NYC and beyond to help parents and professionals find and access the services and systems required to facilitate maximizing the potential of their children with disabilities. Now retired from his advocacy endeavors, Gary enjoys sharing his poetry that he passionately writes with the goal of leaving this world a better place one word at a time.

Theonyl A. Cuevas, LCSW

Theonyl CuevasTheonyl A. Cuevas, LCSW, has over 20 years of experience in providing quality therapeutic services to children, families, and adults. In 2010, she joined the GDS team to work directly with the teens and families and improve overall program performance.

Throughout her career, Theonyl has provided clinical services and administrative oversight in the fields of HIV/AIDS and addiction treatment programs. In the past 10 years, she has conducted on-site program monitoring and clinical quality management reviews through her consulting services. Currently, she provides clinical services at LifeStance in Carmel NY. As an enthusiastic mental health professional, Theonyl is committed to improving service delivery and enhancing the therapeutic experience in the field of mental health.

Julie Chait

Julie ChaitJulia Chait, recently earned a BA in Psychology and will continue her interest in Psychology, mental health, and supporting youth as she attends graduate school this upcoming year to pursue a Ph.D. in School Psychology. Julia has been volunteering at GDS since 2021 as a Youth Worker/Mental Health Advocate. She co-led a group of 15 inner-city youth through counseling, wellness workshops, and education, helping the youth to foster teamwork and communication skills, as well as assist in interview preparation and resume building. She also works to promote and support GDS’ community advocacy campaign. Julia and Dr. Gary created the Healthy Mind Series, intended to provide the community with mental health awareness, education, support, counseling, and tools to cope and find professional help. She is a dedicated and avid worker here at GDS.
